Welcome to the first video in this series of overviews on Wood Mackenzie’s Lens Carbon.

Lens Carbon is our complete solution that provides insights on carbon management methods that include CCUS, an emerging technology integral to a smooth energy transition, and Carbon Offsets, the market-based mechanism to compensate for unavoidable emissions.

As we all understand, the combination of both is crucial for achieving net zero across all sectors.

The content is delivered through the analytic platform and written content on the portal.

On the CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation, and storage) front, the platform allows us to perform a source-to-sink evaluation of the entire CCUS value chain, targeting workflows such as matching up asset emissions with storage potential, where CCUS infrastructure and projects exist. Or understanding the global and regional market trajectory for CCUS build out, and benchmark portfolios.

We also assess the economics of the CCUS projects to determine their competitiveness, therefore allowing us to form a view of their levelized costs and revenues.

In the Carbon Offset aspect, the platform enables quick and detailed benchmarking of offset projects and their registries around the world. We take a project-by-project approach rather than a market-only approach, and integrate the dataset with additional project information, indicators and assessment of projects’ value.

For both CCUS and Carbon Offset, we complement the analytics on the platform with the richness of Wood Mackenzie’s qualitative analysis in the form of written content that can be seen from the Lens Carbon Landing page on the portal. Use them to understand trends in the market, technology and policy, and the projects themselves.

The written content consists of the core reports, insights, and key asset profiles. We will go into further detail in the next videos in this series that look at CCUS and Carbon Offset separately.
