What are the benefits of a single view and unified user experience across the energy and natural resources value chain?

Answer: The energy transition involves multiple industries coalescing, and the ability to look across the interconnected global energy system to make data-driven strategic investment decisions is paramount. The unified experience in Lens means that anyone entitled to Lens Upstream, Lens Gas & LNG, Lens Power, Lens Hydrogen, and Lens Carbon solutions will be able to analyze, screen, benchmark, and value these datasets alongside each other in the same Lens interface, enabling incredibly powerful workflows. The multi-industry view lets users employ maps, dashboards, and filter/search/navigation tools to perform multi-industry analysis and encourage exploration beyond basic questions.

For example, you can now use the polygon selector on the map implemented in the cross-commodity view to select Upstream assets alone or alongside other commodity assets.

Does everyone get access to this new, cross-commodity view across Upstream, Hydrogen, Power, Carbon and Gas & LNG data?

Answer: The datasets and dashboards visible in Lens are tied to your subscription. If entitled, use the Industry filter to add additional datasets to your dashboards. Turning on multiple industries will combine datasets in the map and dashboards. For example, toggling on Upstream and Cabon will show data of both project types in the Assets dashboard.

Why is Wood Mackenzie changing the way Lens interface looks?

Answer: We have made several changes to the Lens user interface to make navigation easier, more intuitive, and visually pleasing. The biggest change is a new layout that follows a similar navigation pattern used in other web applications. We moved our menu to the left-hand side, and it is always visible, either displaying a scrollable list of available dashboards (workflows) or a collapsed view with icons. Next to this vertical navigation bar are the dashboards themselves, while the map is now on the right. This provides a logical flow across the interface.

How do I change the active dashboard?

Answer: Change the active dashboard using the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Hover over a dashboard name to read a description and make your selection to update the visualizations. The menu can be collapsed using the " < " icon in the upper right-hand corner.

Re-expand the menu using the same " > " icon.

How do I add new layers to the map?

Answer: Now that the map is on the right-hand side of the screen, the map control panel is to the far right. Expand the Layer menu and view the list of suggested map layers or click +Add layer to view the full library.

How do I configure the charts?

Answer: Configure charts by using the cogwheel icon on the top right. This will let you change the dataset being visualized, update axis and color by options, as well as access data table views.

How do I download the charts and the data behind it?

Answer: Use the Export icon on the top right to select your download options, which include the underlying data table in both Excel and CSV formats, along with the chart itself in various image formats.

How do I know what industry a chart is tied to?

Answer: Each chart will display the relevant industry underneath the chart title. Summary will show the industries both under the title and in each respective card.

How do I share a View or URL with a colleague?

Answer: To share a view or a URL with someone else, click the ‘Share your work’ button at the top. This will give you the option to save your work as a View which can be shared with others within your organization or as a URL with those both inside and outside of your organization using the ‘Copy link’ option. What the person you are sharing with will see is dependent on their subscription, but filters, chart settings, map settings, and dashboard selections are saved and shared in both Views and URLs.

💡 Note: simply copy/pasting the URL in your browser will not share your intended content with the other person.
