Welcome to Lens
Lens is now the gateway to access all of the written expert analysis, data, models, tools and solutions within your Wood Mackenzie's subscriptions. Everything you used to access across our separate platforms now lives here, in one connected experience shaped by what you are subscribed to.
This guide walks you through what's new, where to find things, and how to get the most out of Lens from day one.
What's changed, and what it means for you
If you've used our platforms before, here's the short version:
Lens is now your home for written content. Reports and analysis that you previously read in the my.woodmac.com portal, or the P&R portal, are now published and read in Lens.
One login, one place. Instead of moving between separate portals, you sign in once and see everything you're entitled to in a single experience.
You only see what you're subscribed to. Your homepage, navigation, and content are driven entirely by your subscription entitlements. If you don't have access to a topic or product, it simply won't appear, so what you do see is always relevant to you.
Familiar features have new homes. Your saved items, dashboards, portfolios and bookmarks now live in one place (called Spaces).
The rest of this page explains where everything is.
Finding your way around
When you sign in, you land on the Lens homepage. Everything you see here reflects your subscription, so it's tailored to you.
The top navigation (always there)
A header stays with you across almost every page in Lens. Here's what each part does:
Lens logo (top left) — acts as a Home button. Click it from anywhere to return to the homepage.
Reports & Analysis — your content hubs, organised by topic (for example Electric Vehicles, Gas & LNG, Oils & Refining). Only the hubs relevant to your subscription appear.
Lens Solutions — provides access to any Lens solution products you’re entitled to (for example Lens Upstream, Lens Metals & Mining). Clicking one takes you into this product while keeping the header in place. Visit https://www.woodmac.com/lens/ or contact your account manager to learn more.
All Tools & Models — a directory of the tools and models available to you, including a "More Platforms" section for other Wood Mackenzie platforms. Note: platforms in this section open in a new tab and may need a separate login.
Lens Direct — available if you have a data subscription. It's the route to our data and API service.
Search — searches across all reports you're entitled to, using natural language. Type a term such as "Outlook" and you'll see relevant results from across your entitled industries. (See the search section below for more.)
Resources — quick links to Events, WM Store and WM Learn. These open in a new tab.
Help Centre — opens the help panel on the right side of the page (you may be reading this there now).
Account Management — opens your account settings in a new tab.
Spaces — opens a panel containing your Views, Custom Dashboards, Portfolios and Bookmarks.
On the homepage
Jump Back In — your most recently accessed items, so you can pick up where you left off. Filter by type: Everything, Reports, Custom Dashboards, Views, Portfolio Solutions, Tools & Models.
Latest News & Insights — a grid of the most recently published reports you're entitled to, organised by industry tabs. You can bookmark reports straight from here, or click "Explore [Industry] content" to dive into a hub.
Explore Solutions — cards for the solutions included in your subscription, plus a look at others you don't currently have (a good way to discover what else is available).
Lens Direct — a larger, more visual entry point to our data service.
Tools & Models — a visual shortcut to the same tools available in the header.
Resources — the same links as the Resources menu, with more space.
Podcasts — a new addition. Click one to open a listening experience similar to the report viewer.
Footer — comprehensive links including Resources, Methodology & Assumptions, Contact Us, Preferences, Account Management, Terms of Use and Policies.
Insight Assistant (floating button) — an AI-powered assistant available on every page. There's a dedicated help article for this.
Reading content: the report viewer
The report viewer is the core reading experience in Lens, and where the content you used to read in other portals now lives.
At the top of each report you'll see:
The title, report type, authors, publication date, and an estimated read time so you can gauge length at a glance.
Click an author's name to open a panel showing all contributors, their titles, contact details and location (handy for knowing which time zone they're in). From here you can:
Copy an analyst's email address.
Use Contact Analyst to raise a question straight from Lens, without leaving the page.
See other reports by that analyst under "Read more from [analyst]".
Action buttons (top right):
Bookmark — save the report to Spaces. Especially useful for reports that get updated over time.
Export / Download — download any attachments (such as Excel datasets or PDFs), or open the PDF full-screen in your browser without leaving Lens.
AI Summary — generate a quick summary of a report to get a sense of its key points before reading in full. (This feature is currently in testing.)
Navigating a report:
The left panel lists all section titles. Click one to jump to it, and the panel tracks your progress as you scroll. Below the sections you'll find PDF page thumbnails you can click to open a specific page.
The centre is the main reading area with the full report content.
The right panel suggests related reports you may be interested in, all within your entitlements.
Content hubs: guided discovery
Content hubs are curated landing pages that group high-value research into a clear, expert-led layout, so you can explore a topic without hunting through individual reports or relying only on search.
Each hub is shaped by our research champions, subject-matter experts who decide how content should be grouped for relevance and clarity. The layout is intentional, not automatic.
There are two kinds of hubs:
Industry-specific hubs — focused on a single sector (for example Carbon, Hydrogen, Power & Renewables, Upstream Oil and Gas).
Theme-based hubs — focused on a broader topic that can cut across industries (for example a major geopolitical event).
To use a hub:
Open it from Reports & Analysis in the top navigation. Only hubs relevant to your subscription appear.
Scroll to browse curated sections, or use the section pills to jump to a specific area.
Open tabs within a section to see sub-categories, or click a section title to open a dedicated page with more similar content.
Can't find what you need in a hub? Hubs surface curated research but don't include every report on a topic. The best approach is to start with a hub for guided discovery, then use Search for something more specific.
Search: find specific reports related to your area of interest
Search in Lens replaces the search experiences you may have used on my.woodmac.com portal and the P&R portal. It's now the single way to find both filters and reports across everything you're entitled to.
Searching from within a Lens solution (for example Upstream) gives you two tabs:
Filters — filters you can apply to your current view. Click a result to replace your current filters, or use "Add to Filters" to layer it alongside what you already have. Filter search is keyword-based.
Reports — report results matching your term. Report search is semantic: it understands meaning and searches within report content, not just titles, so you may find reports where your term appears in the body. Refine by Industry, Location, Report Type and Publish Date, and sort by Most Relevant or Latest.
Searching from the homepage works the same way but is limited to reports (since filters can't be applied to the homepage).
Seeing all results: Click "View All Report Results" to open the full "All Reports and Analysis" page. It shows 25 reports per page, surfaces up to 500 results with pagination, and lets you search by keyword or by the exact name of a report. The header search and the on-page search are synced and produce the same results.
