How can I find forecasted capacity additions for a specific ISO (e.g., MISO)?

Steps to extract capacity additions data from Wood Mackenzie’s North America Power Service

You can locate forecasted capacity additions by using the Supply dashboard in the North America Power Tool.

Steps:

  1. In the Supply dashboard, filter by your ISO of interest (e.g., Midcontinent ISO).

  2. Review the cumulative installation view.

  3. To calculate annual capacity additions, apply the following:

    • Year X capacity – Year (X-1) capacity + Retirements = Capacity additions for Year X.

  4. Retirements data can be found in Supply > Retirements.
