Direct Air Capture (DAC) refers to the use of chemical or physical processes to extract carbon dioxide (CO₂) directly from the atmosphere—regardless of the source of the emissions. Unlike traditional carbon capture technologies that collect CO₂ at the point of emission (e.g., power plants or industrial facilities), DAC systems can be deployed anywhere and are designed to target ambient air. This makes DAC a key technology for achieving net zero emissions and for carbon removal strategies.
