What is the Oil Supply Service?

This service is a combination of Oil supply research reports and the Oil Supply Tool (OST).

It lets you understand the prospects for future oil and NGL supply.

Underpinned by our field-by-field supply data our objective analysis of the prospects for oil and NGL supply also provides detailed written analysis for the top producing countries and forecasts for crude streams entering the market

Elements unique to this service include:

  • top-down supply risking at a country level to capture likely project delays and operating issues, without penalising individual assets,

  • some minor countries not covered in our Lens Upstream platform - including Cuba, Belarus, and Chile

  • total liquids production for onshore US Lower 48 to include output from producers not covered in Lens Upstream

  • natural gas liquids (NGLs) production from gas plant facilities, some of which falls outside the upstream fiscal ring-fence

  • unconventionals (biofuels, coal-to-liquids, gas-to-liquids, oil shale (mined kerogen)

  • processing gains to account for volume changes that occur across the refining system

  • future elements of supply beyond modelled projects, such as reserves growth, yet-to-find (including frontier) and tight oil potential outside North America

What does the Oil Supply Service cover?

  • Crude oil and NGL supply forecasts, and coverage of production status, location, quality, and water depth,

  • 600+ modelled current and future marketed crude stream forecasts,

  • Access to our interactive global supply data from 2000-2050

  • Top producer country reports covering political and regulatory issues to infrastructure and prospectivity

  • Insight reports analysing supply trends and issues

  • Short- and long-term supply reports

The Oil Supply Tool offers a comprehensive and transparent market view of global oil and NGL supply, and allows the user to download data and create customisable charts showing supply and crude quality.

With this tool you are also able to analyse changes in crude quality and trends for marketed crude streams, build breakeven cost curves using field level data and view country level reports.

The monthly reports include the latest data on current production trends and written analysis on current supply issues and amendments that have been made to the short-term outlook.

The long-term reports are divided into the 10-year outlook (Nov) and strategic planning outlook (March) and cover our view of supply out to 2050.

All written reports provide a combination of written analysis, charts, and Excel data downloads

How often is the content updated?

The short-term oil supply forecast is updated on a monthly basis. The long-term outlook within the Oil Supply Tool is updated twice a year.
